Baghdad/Basra: Morning/Saad Al-Samak
There is no stopping the wheel of construction, reconstruction and development of sectors, foremost among which is the economic file.
This is what the government wants to confirm, as one project is about to be completed, another is being launched, this time in Basra, as the oil company in the province revealed the intention to activate the file of establishing the first large artificial island to export crude oil. As for Baghdad, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani chaired the periodic meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Development Road Project yesterday evening, Monday. The Prime Minister's media office stated that the initial designs for the railway have reached 100% completion and the designs for the road have been completed by 75%. During the meeting, the first of November was set as the date for the second meeting of the Quadripartite Committee for the Development Road in Baghdad, consisting of Iraq, Qatar, the Emirates and Turkey. Al-Sudani directed the entity designing the Development Road Project to prepare a schedule for expropriations along the project's path.
Meanwhile, Basra Oil Company Director General Bassem Abdul Karim Al-Shahmani told Al-Sabah that “the island will be in territorial waters, which will place Iraq at the center of maritime countries that produce and export oil and gas.” Although the idea of establishing an island to export oil was previously proposed as an idea, the current government is determined to advance the Iraqi economy and accomplish what previous governments failed to do.
