    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Today, Monday (September 23, 2024), the Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission, Ali Al-Moayyad, called on the International Telecommunication Union to support innovation and creativity in Iraq.
The Commission stated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "its Chairman, Ali Al-Muayyad, met with the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, Doreen Bogdan Martin, on the sidelines of Iraq's participation in the Future Summit held in New York," indicating that "the meeting discussed the efforts of Iraqi official institutions in the fields of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, electronic payment, and banking reforms that are in line with global technological developments."
During the meeting, Al-Muayyad stressed "the importance of the International Federation's support for Iraq, especially in light of the presence of a youth community that keeps pace with all the developments taking place in the world," stressing "the issue of reducing the digital gap in Iraq and ways to reduce it, in addition to comprehensive service projects and ongoing developments in the communications and information technology sector."
Al-Muayyad called on "the union to support innovation and creativity in Iraq, with a focus on training human resources, especially youth, and supporting the private sector and emerging projects," extending "an official invitation to the union's president, Bogdan Martin, to visit Iraq to support the country's digital transformation efforts."
For her part, Martin confirmed "the full support of the International Federation for Iraq and the activities carried out by the Communications and Media Commission, while expressing her admiration for the work of the Commission in developing the communications and information technology sector," stressing "the continued support of the Federation in the areas of policies, regulations, and monitoring the transformations taking place in Iraq."
