    Economy News - Baghdad
A document, reviewed by Al-Eqtisad News, showed that Abdul Sattar Hashem was assigned the duties of Director General of the General Tax Authority.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Ministry of Finance decided to withdraw the hand of the Director General of the General Tax Authority.
Yesterday, Monday, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed the Integrity Commission to open an immediate investigation into the audio leaks attributed to the Director of the Tax Authority.
The Prime Minister's media office said in a statement that "Al-Sudani directed the Integrity Commission to open an urgent investigation into the audio leak attributed to the Director General of the General Tax Authority, and to submit the results quickly, in confirmation of his commitment to combating corruption, which is one of the most important priorities of the government program."
It is noteworthy that social media sites and a number of media outlets had previously circulated audio leaks attributed to the head of the General Tax Authority, Ali Allawi, claiming that he "manipulated tax funds on behalf of private companies in exchange for bribes."
