[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The newspapers issued in Baghdad today, Thursday, October 31, followed the session of the Council of Representatives scheduled for today to elect its president, and the four-party meeting hosted by Baghdad today regarding the development method..
The newspaper / Al-Zawraa /, issued by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, said: "The Council of Representatives is heading, today, Thursday, to elect its president and resolve a difficult labor that lasted about 11 months, due to political differences over the candidates for the position."
A parliamentary source revealed, according to the newspaper, a political agreement to nominate MP Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani to fill the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives.
It quoted him as saying: “Most Sunni forces agreed to nominate Al-Mashhadani to fill the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives in the special session that will be held today, Thursday.”
Al-Zawraa recalled: “On Wednesday, October 23, six Sunni forces determined two paths to decide on the election of a new Speaker of the House of Representatives, with no third option. The first is for all competing parties to withdraw their candidates, and for all national forces present to commit to supporting candidate Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, who has received the support of the Sunni parliamentary and political majority.”
As for the second option, it is to go towards taking legal measures in the House of Representatives to nominate a new candidate from the Sunni political majority, supported by a large parliamentary majority, to preserve the right of the Sunni majority to name its representative in this position.” Al
-Sabah newspaper, which is issued by the Iraqi Media Network, followed the meeting hosted by Baghdad today between the Ministers of Transport in Iraq, the Emirates, Qatar and Turkey, regarding the path to development.
The newspaper said: "The meeting gains its utmost importance from the importance of its main topic, which is the path to development, and it is one of the most important projects planned in the region because it will bring about a real revolution in the world of foreign trade by linking Iraq and the rest of the Gulf countries to Europe.
" It added: "The preliminary design phase is almost over, and upon its completion, the project will be presented to major companies that have been preparing for a long time to compete to implement its stages. Up until this moment, Iraq has fulfilled all of its obligations required by the project, foremost among which is the biggest challenge, which is the Faw Port, the completion rates of which have reached advanced stages."
She concluded that: "A project like this would not have seen the light of day without its necessary prerequisites, namely security and political stability, the reassurance of Arab and international capital to enter into it, and the necessary reforms made by the government in the tax and banking systems. All of this is credited to the Al-Sudani government, which has relied from the beginning on the ability of its strategic projects to move Iraq to a different economic scene by activating new sectors and not being satisfied with oil as the sole source of the economy."
Al-Sabah quoted the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, as confirming the completion of preparations for the second meeting of the Quadripartite Ministerial Committee on the Development Road Project, which will be held in the capital, Baghdad, today, Thursday.
Al-Saadawi added: "The meeting is scheduled to discuss the outcomes of the technical committees, meetings and previous meetings, to be crystallized on the ground, after completing the initial design phase of the railway, topographic surveys and soil investigations. We are also close to completing the designs of the expressway. The ministry is now reviewing the designs, in preparation for entering into the detailed designs, and starting to implement the project during the coming year."
In another matter, Al-Zaman newspaper followed up on the issue of the low salaries of civilian and military retirees and their incompatibility with living requirements and rising prices.
The newspaper said: "Thousands of civilian and military retirees are still waiting for an increase in their salaries without any response from the Retirement Authority."
Retirees complained via Al-Zaman about the high cost of living and economic pressures, without responding to their demands for salary increases.
They pointed out that the Retirement Authority did not take effective steps to improve the financial situation of retirees, which led to the exacerbation of their daily suffering, stressing: "The need to review the retirement procedures, in a way that ensures achieving justice among all retirees."
According to the newspaper, retirees believe that "the success of the Bar Association in achieving an increase in the salaries of its members should be an incentive for the Authority to provide appropriate support to retirees and their heirs who receive salaries that do not match their daily needs and the requirements of spending on education."
Al-Zaman pointed out that the President of the Bar Association, Ahlam Al-Lami, said on her Facebook page: "The Bar Association Council decided to increase the salaries of retired lawyers, as the monthly salary of the retired lawyer will become one million dinars, and a monthly salary of eight hundred thousand dinars was set for the heirs of the deceased lawyer." / End [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][/rtl]
