Shafaq News/ On Thursday, the Kurdish leader and head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, described the elections of the Kurdistan Parliament in its sixth session as historic, stressing that the next government of the region must be formed according to these principles: one region, one parliament, one government, and unification of the Peshmerga forces.
This came in a speech he delivered during the opening ceremony of the Mesopotamia Medical Conference in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.
The Kurdish leader said in his speech that historic elections were held in Kurdistan on October 20, adding that: What we are proud of is that those elections were held in a very calm atmosphere, with complete freedom, and no problem occurred, as many people expected that a major problem would occur that would hinder the holding of the elections.
He added that after announcing the final election results, it is time to hold a dialogue between all political parties according to the electoral entitlement, adding that: The most important thing is for the next government to be formed according to these principles, which are: one region, one parliament, one government, and one Peshmerga forces.
Masoud Barzani stressed the need to work to limit these illegal activities such as: establishing a factory to produce narcotics, trading in these substances, terrorism, and violating the law, stressing that these things must be stopped, and that the law must prevail.
He added that the government should provide health and educational services, and rely on itself. It is true that oil is important, but today or tomorrow it will run out, but agriculture and tourism will not end, and this is from the economic point of view.
The Kurdish leader went on to say: I see that water scarcity will be the main problem, whether in the near or distant future (..) and no one can live without water, praising the interest of the regional government in its fifth session in building dams, adding: But from now on, this issue must be one of the priorities of the next government, because the issue of water does not tolerate negligence or neglect in any way.
Masoud Barzani stressed the necessity for the regional government to resolve the differences and outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad on the basis of the constitution.
