    Today, Thursday (October 31, 2024), Ghazi Faisal, head of the Iraqi Center for Strategic Studies, revealed indicators of the failure of the session to elect the Speaker of Parliament.
    Faisal told Baghdad Today, "Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani is an important candidate supported by the Coordination Framework," adding, "But some Sunni parties decided to boycott the session, and what happened to the Sovereignty Party are all indications of its failure."
    He added that "there is no consensus among the political forces to nominate a person to fill the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives in today's session," stressing that "there are doubts about the session, or achieving national consensus among the political forces."
    Faisal explained that "the issue will remain pending until a figure emerges who enjoys consensus among the components and parties represented in the House of Representatives."
    Yesterday, Wednesday, the media department of the House of Representatives published the agenda of the parliament session scheduled to be held today .
    The agenda, according to what was published by the media department, included only one paragraph, which is the election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives .
    The Coordination Framework decided, on Monday (October 28, 2024), to hold a parliament session today, Thursday, to elect a new speaker of the House of Representatives .
    An informed political source told Baghdad Today, "The Coordination Framework held its regular meeting on Monday and decided during the meeting to hold a session of the House of Representatives on Thursday in order to elect the Speaker of Parliament."
