    [rtl]The Ministry of Transport has begun implementing procedures to unify the airline fleet models and adopt the latest international standards, with the aim of lifting the European ban on the national carrier and enhancing its operational efficiency and safety.[/rtl]
    [rtl]The director of the ministry’s media office, Maitham Al-Safi, said in a statement to the official newspaper that “the ministry is working to intensify its corrective steps to lift the European ban on the national carrier, which includes preparing advanced programs to upgrade the work of airline crews and improve the operational efficiency of its fleet, and starting to implement mechanisms to unify the models of the national carrier’s fleet, and completing deals to purchase modern aircraft, as five Airbus aircraft and six Boeing 737 aircraft have been received out of 16 aircraft, in addition to two Dreamliner aircraft out of 10 aircraft.”[/rtl]
    [rtl]He added, "The remaining contracted aircraft will be received successively, so that their total number will increase by 2027 to 31 aircraft, coinciding with the closing of the grounded aircraft file at the end of this year and the return of all aircraft to service, after the completion of rehabilitation and maintenance work."[/rtl]
    [rtl]Al-Safi added, "The steps also include making qualitative updates that ensure full compliance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which enhances the readiness of Baghdad International Airport and makes its operations more efficient and safe, and consolidates its position as one of the leading airports in the region."[/rtl]
    [rtl]He explained that "the ongoing security events in the region and the process of closing and opening the airspace did not affect the performance of the Green Bird and its commitment to the flight schedule to all operating regional and international destinations, in addition to the continuation of most airlines crossing Iraqi airspace and operating direct flights to Baghdad International Airport."[/rtl]
    [rtl]Al-Safi explained that “the Ministry continues to support the national carrier with the aim of expanding and improving its services, in line with global developments in the field of aviation, and the continuous pursuit of achieving positive results that are consistent with the government’s aspirations to develop local air transport, meet the needs of travelers from diverse destinations to various countries of the world, and improve the levels of services in their various forms.”[/rtl]
