Shafaq News/ Al-Azm Alliance revealed that all political forces are witnessing intense meetings and communications before holding the session to elect the President of the Iraqi Parliament, scheduled for today, Saturday.
The coalition spokesman, Azzam Al-Hamdani, told Shafaq News Agency, “The political forces are now engaged in intensive meetings and communications before holding the session to elect the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and this is normal, as each party wants to gain votes for its candidates for this position, especially after the decline of the competition between Salem Al-Issawi and Mahmoud.” Al-Mashhadani.
Al-Hamdani stated, “All indications indicate and confirm that the parliamentary majority will vote in favor of the representative from Anbar, Salem Al-Issawi, and for this reason we have a fear that some representatives will create problems and disrupt the election session through a ‘fight’ between some representatives, to prevent Al-Issawi from reaching the presidency of the Council.” Representatives.
The spokesman for the Al-Azm Alliance confirmed that “there is parliamentary determination to resolve the election of the Speaker of Parliament during today’s session,” stressing that “the Presidency of the House of Representatives must take strict and resolute measures against anyone who wants to create chaos inside the Parliament hall to thwart the election of the new president.”
Today, Saturday, political circles within the corridors of the Iraqi Parliament are awaiting with great caution the session to elect the Speaker of the House of Representatives, nearly half a year after the removal of its former speaker, Muhammad al-Halbousi, with differing opinions about the priority of electing Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, or Salem al-Issawi.
