Building air forces among priorities of armament deals, says official

<p style="text-align: left; unicode-bidi: embed; direction: ltr;" class="MsoNormal">Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Secretary General of the Iraqi Cabinet, Ali al-Allaq announced that “Iraq is in an urgent need for armament and it is exerting concerted efforts to build the air forces as being the most important pillar in the military organization.”
Allaq pointed out that “The building of the air forces will be through setting priorities for military contracts for armament deals.”
“Iraq urgently needs the armament,” he added stressing “If the government wants to cover all the funds of the military equipments, then it will consume the larger part of the state moneys, so the government must prepare the funds required for the deals concluded with the US to purchase F-16 aircrafts.”
The Iraqi Cabinet announced on 22nd of last January its approval to grant the ministry of Defense the financial amounts ($ 1,8 billion) required to pay the expenses of purchasing F-16 aircrafts according to the deal concluded between Baghdad and Washington in 2008 to purchase 36 fighter aircrafts of F-16 Type.
