     Parliamentary Legal Committee confirmed today that the Iraqi constitution allows the prime minister to postpone provincial elections.
    He said commission member Hamdiya al-Husseini said in an interview for "direction" that there is a paragraph in the election law allows the prime minister to postpone the elections without reference to the House of Representatives, which makes it imperative for the Electoral Commission to do so.
    She added that "the postponement of provincial elections to 2018 and merged with the House of Representatives election due to several reasons," noting that "including the deteriorating security situation in some provinces and the exodus of their people and not to their stability and the economic situation of the country that Aithml an election expenses for twice being cost the state huge amounts of money ".
    She explained that "other reasons behind the postponement of the elections is not to complete the Electoral Commission to update the electoral register and the remaining period of not enough for completion."
