    The Electoral Commission discussed with the Bar Association on Sunday the possibility of amending the law of provincial councils and political parties.
    The Iraqi Bar Association organized with the IHEC a dialogue seminar on the law of provincial elections and the law of political parties on Saturday 8/12/2018 at the headquarters of the union in the presence of a number of members of the legal committee in the House of Representatives and a number of academics and experts on the legal side, Commissioners and Chairman of the Legal Committee in the Board of Commissioners Mr. Hazem Al-Radini and Director of the Institute of Electoral Education Raad Sami.
    At the beginning of the seminar, the President of the Iraqi Bar Association, Ahlam Al-Lami, welcomed the attendees and wished to come out of this symposium and subsequent symposiums with important recommendations and send them to the Chamber of Deputies. Mr. Al-Raldini referred to the Provincial Elections Law No. 12 of 2018, which was discussed extensively in the Commission. To the amendment and discussed under the dome of the Parliament with the Legal Committee and to inform them of the materials that need to be amended and the law was discussed extensively and agreed to put forward work papers in the coming sessions. He also touched on the law of political parties, which was discussed earlier in the Board of Commissioners and the possibility of making some amendments to it, especially that there are decisions of the Federal Court states unconstitutional four of its articles in addition to the amendments that have been approved by the Commission.
    The participants discussed, according to the statement, the outlines of the two laws and the agreement on the general principles in this symposium and there will be many meetings to reach an important formula and amendments to raise the laws to a high level.
    The Electoral Commission continues to work and coordinate with government institutions, organizations, unions, universities and other social actors to reach a road map of the laws and procedures that pave the way for the success of the upcoming electoral entitlements.
