America and China discuss a timetable for their trade negotiations

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced Tuesday that a Chinese official had spoken by telephone with US officials on a timetable for negotiations aimed at ending the trade dispute between the two countries.
In a statement, the ministry said in a statement that Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Liu Hue talked with US Trade Secretary Steven Menuchin and US Trade Representative Robert Laitheiser on ways to implement the "understanding" reached by US presidents Donald Trump and China's Shi Jinping, during their last summit held on November 30 in Buenos Aires
The two presidents agreed on a 90-day truce ending on March 1, during which Washington froze its threat to increase the current punitive tariffs on the $ 200 billion worth of Chinese exports to the United States each year.
In a brief statement, Beijing said Liu had discussed with US officials the "schedule of future economic and trade consultations" without specifying where and when.
The statement also did not say whether the Chinese official had discussed with his American interlocutors the case of the financial director of China's Huawei Telecom, Ming Wanzo, who was arrested by Canada on the basis of a US arrest warrant for Americans suspected of violating their sanctions against Iran.
