US President Donald Trump called on Israel to act "rationally with regard to peace" and declared in an interview with an Israeli newspaper stand management of new settlements in the Palestinian territories , saying it may not be helpful.
Trump 's comments come a newspaper (Israel Today) while relieving the powerful pro-Israel tone before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu 's visit to the White House on February 15.
In the interview published in the newspaper on Friday that Trump said , "I want Israel to be prudent with regard to peace. I want to see peace achieved ... I look forward to see the amount of rationality among both parties and I think that we have a good chance to do so."
During his election campaign in 2016 Trump pointed out that his presidency would be a boon to Israel and tough on the Palestinians. He talked about the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem and the appointment of an ambassador supporter of Israeli settlement program and not to exercise any pressure on Israel to conduct peace talks.
And now it adopts Trump thoughtful stance further. Although the White House did not join the wave of widespread criticism this week of an Israeli law a new legitimize retroactively to about 4,000 home - based settlement , however , the pro-Israel stance is showing signs of a slight amount of change.
He informed the Trump - owned Israeli newspaper magnate US casinos Sheldon Adelson , a supporter of Netanyahu and donor contributions to the Republican Party , "It ( the settlements) do not help the process. I can say this.
" Every time you take a land of settlements, the land remaining less ... I'm not a person believed to be proceed in these settlements nothing useful for peace. "
the US president said his administration was " exploring other options "regarding settlements.
he said he was still studying the issue of the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem , a move likely to anger the Arab world.
he said Trump" the embassy is not a decision easy. Obviously they are there for too many years and no one wants to make that decision. I teach I am very seriously and we'll see what happens. "
