We always read and hear this link between the situation in Iraq and the Syrian situation, between the dramatic expectations in Iraq and its counterpart in Syria, including that the two countries are inextricably on the division and fragmentation. Can the two countries disappoint many and turn to unity or a merger? But the subject is not that simple. Surely it is a challenge.
In Iraq, there is a free electoral pluralistic system since 2005 and has been subject to disappointments for 13 years. This experience can be an accumulation of maturity and skill in how to improve and develop this system to give different results at the Iraqi and regional levels. A system of governance that transcends the style of governance based on loyalty to a person and family.
Frankly, Iraq and Syria have a responsibility in the region to create a beautiful system of peace between their constituents and to maintain a respectable and democratic system, that is to say, to establish a system that creates the superior state and has plans and values ​​to emerge from chaos into a system of high intelligence.
As a proposal, the Iraqi and Syrian elites can sit together and think about the Rashid regime in the two countries, allowing for a highly integrated region. Both countries have the most prestigious scientific universities and are characterized by a huge labor force and countless agricultural spaces. The two countries also have two civilizations complemented by some Together through the stations of history, the civilization of Mesopotamia and the civilization of the Levant.
Between Iraq and Syria, all the elements of non-political unity are the unity of values ​​and beautiful dreams and some of the real structures available, and the two countries have the same vital interest: salvation from the scenarios of division, sectarian strife and terrorism. Iraq and Syria are meant to be fields of experience, the experience of sectarian conflict, the experience of geographical division, and the experience of federations and confederations. Do Iraqis and Syrians accept this?
Iraq and Syria can be inspired by their common concerns, their soft common aspirations and then establish the strongest system of peace in them. The borders between them will be opened and the focus will be on the renaissance of food, industry, education and work skills.
In the region, there are countries that were worse than the Iraqi and Syrian situation, such as China and Japan, especially China, which looked exhausted, backward and warring between its vast territories after the Second World War and then succeeded in 1949 to turn weakness into strength and chaos to renaissance. With this achievement, they set and forced the strong world to recognize the principle of a united China and re-annex Hong Hong to China and wait for the annexation of Taiwan as well.
What is important is that the unity of Iraq and Syria should not be too idealistic. There are those who oppose this unity. The two countries should define the parties with transparency and ask the question: Does Iran have an interest in an Iraqi-Syrian unity within the thought of a smooth and rational system? Inner wars? The Gulf states, particularly Saudi Arabia, can accept the best two regimes with unique values ​​of governance in Baghdad and Damascus? Do the Iraqis and the Syrians have this level of flight and high meanings and ends? Do they have this distant horizon in touching the interest of life and not the interest of people or groups or influence for this and that? Baghdad and Damascus must rebel against their internal demons and demons of the region. Does Iran have an interest in an Iraqi-Syrian unity within the framework of a smooth and rational system, with emphasis on the renaissance of the Arab region and the prevention of internal wars?
