Russia deployed military police in two areas to reduce the escalation in Syria

    18:20 - 24/07/2017

The Russian military announced on Monday the deployment of military police forces along two areas, including the reduction of the escalation in southwestern Syria.

"Russian military police have set up audit centers and 10 monitoring posts along the borders of the zone of reducing the escalation in southwestern Syria, as well as audit centers and four observation posts in the eastern Ghouta," Gen. Sergei Rodzkoy of the General Staff said in a press conference in Moscow.

"These measures will allow for the continuation of the cease-fire in the region, which includes the provinces of Daraa, Quneitra and Suwayda, and to ensure the arrival of humanitarian convoys without obstacles and the return of refugees and displaced persons," he said.

The Syrian army announced the cessation of fighting in some areas of the eastern Ghouta on July 22, hours after Moscow announced an agreement to secure this area.
