    Iraq calls for Canada to meet its needs of wheat

    called on the Ministry of Commerce, Sunday, Canada to fill the country 's need of wheat, amounting to two million tons, for the purpose of securing the ration card items, while the acting Canadian Embassy in Baghdad confirmed that the Canadian Minister of Commerce will be directed to invite the Iraqi counterpart to visit Canada and discuss prospects for cooperation in the field Commercial.

    The ministry said in a statement received by Alsumaria News, a copy of it, "The Minister of Commerce Salman Jumaili Agency met today with the charge of the Canadian Embassy in Baghdad Crystal Process."


    The statement quoted Jumaili as saying that "Iraq needs two million tons of wheat for the purpose of securing the requirements of the ration card," calling on the Canadian side to "further cooperation in the supply of wheat to Iraq to meet the need mentioned."

    For her part, the Canadian embassy said that "the Canadian Minister of Trade will send an official invitation to his Iraqi counterpart to visit Canada to discuss the prospects of cooperation in the field of trade, especially with regard to the import of wheat and the contribution of Canadian companies in the reconstruction process."

    It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Commerce faced political and popular criticism bitterly accused of lagging in the distribution of the ration card items consisting of five materials, as limited to one or two items distributed every four or five months.
