    [ltr]Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, discussed with some of his Arab and foreign counterparts the mutual relations.[/ltr]
    [ltr]A statement by the Foreign Ministry received by IraqiNews.com cited “Within the framework of communications conducted by Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari on the sidelines of the General Assembly meetings, the Minister met on September 25, 2013 at UN headquarters in New York Foreign Minister of Libya, Mohamed Abdul Aziz.”[/ltr]
    [ltr]“The Libyan Minister briefed the developments of the situation in Libya particularly with regard to the efforts made to secure stability, transitional justice, national reconciliation and dialogue. The meeting also touched upon bilateral relations and the need to develop them,” the statement added.[/ltr]

    The statement pointed out “On the other hand, Minister Zebari pointed out to the importance of stability and strengthening security in Libya because there is a big Iraqi community there, and the need to develop relations for the mutual interest of both countries and peoples through the exchange of visits. In this context, Minister Zebari invited the Libyan Minister to visit Iraq. For his part, the Libyan Minister promised to meet the invitation at the earliest opportunity,” noting that ” Zebari met at the same day Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Othman Jrady. During the meeting the two sides touched upon the situation taking place in Tunisia and the transitional phase it is experiencing. The two officials confirmed the historical relations between the two brotherly countries; Minister Zebari expressed Iraq’s desire to develop these relations, especially in the field of trade and tourism, the exchange of visits between senior officials of the two countries. Minister Zebari extended an invitation to the Tunisian Minister to visit Iraq, which he accepted and promised to meet it at the earliest time.”

    “Zebari also met the UN headquarters his Argentine counterpart, Hector Timerman where the two sides reviewed aspects of joint cooperation and the potentials that Argentine has in cooperation fields South – South. The two ministers also discussed enhancing bilateral diplomatic ties through opening the embassies of the two countries especially that there is nothing that impedes achieving it,” the statement concluded.
