A new earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit Mexico on Saturday.

According to the agency "Reuters", the earthquake occurred in the south-east of the city of Romero in the state of Wahaka in the south of the country, saying that a slight tremors hit the capital, Mexico.

This came just hours after the US Geological Survey announced that an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale hit the coast of Mexico.

The epicenter of the quake was located 48 kilometers southwest of the southern town of Paredon at a depth of 74.2 kilometers, the agency said.

So far no information has been received about casualties or material damage.

A devastating earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale jolted Mexico earlier this week, reaching the capital city of Mexico City, where 44 houses were destroyed. Recent data indicate that the quake killed 293 people.
