[ltr]Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Jaafari in Moscow on October 23 to discuss the situation in the semi-independent Kurdistan region, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Saturday.[/ltr]
[ltr]Moscow supports a constructive dialogue between Baghdad and Kurdistan, the ministry said.[/ltr]
[ltr]Jaafari's visit will continue from October 23 to 25 and is scheduled to take part in the meeting of the Iraqi-Russian Joint Government Committee with the participation of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.[/ltr]
[ltr]The statement said that they planned to discuss the projects of Russian oil and gas companies in Iraq during the meeting.[/ltr]
[ltr]Iraqi Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi said on Saturday he would seek clarifications from Russian oil giant Rosneft over contracts signed with Iraq's Kurdistan region.[/ltr]
[ltr]Al-Allaibi said in Baghdad that Rosneft confirmed that these contracts are preliminary and not prepared for implementation. On Thursday, Rosneft agreed to control Iraq's main oil pipeline, boosting its investment in the region.[/ltr]
