Washington: We have an affinity with Moscow over the Syrian crisis
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said there is a convergence of US-Russian views on how to end the conflict in Syria.
"As far as Russia is concerned, there is scope for cooperation," Tillerson said during a speech at the Wilson Center in Washington. "We are working hard in Syria to achieve victory over a staunch organization and we are on the road to a decisive victory over terrorism and forever in Syria."
"We are only working with Moscow on avoiding civil war in Syria."
The US minister noted that Washington and Moscow are conducting extensive discussions on the matter, and that "there is a clear convergence on the subject."
