Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari met with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Jawad Zarif during the two ministers' meetings in Rome.
"Jaafari and Zarif discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and regional issues in a meeting in the Italian capital," the official Tasnim news agency reported.
Jaafari arrived in Rome on Thursday to participate in the Mediterranean Dialogue Forum Rome-Med 2017 under the auspices of the Italian Institute for International Policy Studies (ISPI).
A statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry that "is scheduled to put during the work of the Forum regional challenges and coordination to eliminate terrorism and the return of security and stability and overcome current crises."
He noted that Jaafari "will meet on the sidelines of the conference a number of ministers and officials in the framework of strengthening relations, and exchange of common interests, and face common risks."
