[ltr]US House of Representatives supports a halt to aid to the Palestinian Authority 4[/ltr]
    [ltr]Follow up of Mawazine News[/ltr]
[ltr]The US House of Representatives unanimously approved a bill to stop US aid to the Palestinian Authority unless steps are taken to stop payments to those convicted of violent crimes, legislators said.[/ltr]
[ltr]The bill is also to be considered by the Senate, but a no-objection vote shows the congressional consensus between Democrats and Republicans on the issue.[/ltr]
[ltr]The text of the bill calls on the State Department to stop US aid to the Palestinians until the foreign minister confirms that the Palestinian Authority has halted payments to Palestinians who have been imprisoned after a trial or for their families.[/ltr]
[ltr]The bill was named "Taylor Force," in honor of a US citizen killed during a March 2016 trip to Tel Aviv by a Palestinian who was later killed by police.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The Palestinian Authority pays salaries to the Palestinians, who attack innocents like Taylor," said Republican Rep. Ed Royce.[/ltr]
[ltr]This comes at a time when US President Donald Trump ignored warnings from the Middle East and the world to blow up the peace process between the Palestinians and the Israelis and informed leaders in the region of his intention to transfer the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.[/ltr]
[ltr]On Wednesday, Trump will address the issue of the transfer of the embassy to Jerusalem[/ltr]
