     Baghdad / Range 

    Basra province yesterday hosted an international oil and gas conference and exhibition with the participation of dozens of foreign, Arab and Iraqi companies in the presence of Saudi Energy Minister Khalid Abdul Aziz Al-Falih.
    "This is my third visit to Basra in six months, and I take the opportunity to thank the Iraqi government and people for the victories that have been achieved against the forces of evil and terrorism, especially as security is a fundamental basis for development," he said in a speech at the opening ceremony. 
    He praised the "efforts of the Iraqi government to promote Iraq and invest its resources," stressing that "Saudi Arabia looks forward to participating in this development march." 
    "Iraq and Saudi Arabia have the determination to develop capabilities and build partnerships. Countries have strategic advantages, such as geographical location and oil and mineral resources, which are a solid base for cooperation between the two countries," he said.
    Al-Falih pointed out that "cooperation with Iraq is the top priority of the Kingdom, and this interest is the patronage of the Crown Prince," adding that "during the past two months we have made important steps in the field of cooperation between the two countries, including the formation of an energy and industry committee to communicate with the Iraqi side, Saudi companies to accelerate entry into the Iraqi market and the implementation of investments, as well as signed 13 memorandum of understanding between Saudi and Iraqi companies for oil and gas. 
    "The opening of an office for Saudi company (TAQA) in Iraq, and the company (SABIC) in the reopening of its offices in Iraq, as well as the formation of a committee to work on a giant project to connect the two countries, and will be communicating with the Iraqi side in this regard.
