    The Ministry of Agriculture announced, on Wednesday, compensation for animal breeders’ losses, while indicating that plans have been put in place to control epidemic diseases in order to preserve livestock.
    The Director of the Epidemiology Department in the Veterinary Department at the Ministry, Thaer Sabri Hussein, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and reviewed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "the Ministry of Agriculture has opened the door to importing calves and sheep from all reliable global origins; to control the rise in meat prices," stressing, "the entry of large quantities of calves and sheep for the purpose of slaughter, and they have been distributed to all Iraqi governorates."

    He pointed out that "there are plans to control epidemic diseases that are devastating livestock, in addition to continuing collective treatments for some other non-epidemic diseases."

    He added, "the ministry supports the private sector to develop livestock, as it compensates for losses in the event that animals are exposed to death due to epidemic diseases, as happened with the Al-Nasr Cow Station, where the ministry approved compensation for cows that were infected with tuberculosis, and now they are in the process of importing new animals."

    He continued, "The ministry is also working on distributing feed to animal breeders, in addition to paying attention to the health aspect."
