Dhi Qar refuses to link the joint oil fields with Muthanna Basra Oil Company

BAGHDAD / The Dhi Qar provincial council on Monday rejected the demands of Al-Muthanna province to link oilfields to the 10th exploration area of the Basra Oil Company, stressing that the joint fields should follow the Dhi Qar oil company, or jointly managed.
"The oil fields in the tenth exploratory area are in Muthanna already, but the oil deposits in Dhi Qar are therefore common fields with Muthanna and should follow the Dhi Qar oil company," said Yahia al-Mashrafawi, head of the oil committee in the council.
He added that "Muthanna has already applied for the purpose of establishing a division of Basra oil to manage the oil fields shared in the area of the tenth question, which was rejected by the province of Dhi Qar in detail, the fields should be managed in partnership with Dhi Qar only.
As for digging more wells in this area, he said, "This is related to the oil explorations in the region where the teams are still continuing their excavation work there."
The local government in the province, opened days before the first oil well exploratory in the tenth oil area shared with Dhi Qar, while Governor Faleh Ziadi announced the approval of the Ministry of Oil to open the Muthanna Oil Division and change the name of the well from (1) to Warka. End 3
