    Shafaq News / U.S. Vice President Joe Biden confirmed on Thursday his country’s support for the efforts of the Iraqi government in fighting terrorism to achieve security and stability.
     
    According to a statement issued by Maliki’s office, received by “Shafaq News,” “the latter met last evening, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden”.

    The statement pointed out that " they discussed the development of relations between Iraq and the United States during the meeting and ways of enhancing them in all fields in light of the strategic framework agreement to emphasize the need to expand cooperation between the two countries and support the efforts of the Iraqi government in fight against terrorism to achieve security and stability."

    The statement added that “they discussed the latest developments in the region and issues of common interest ."

    Prime Minister , Nuri al-Maliki had left and his entourage Baghdad on Tuesday on their way to the United States in a five days official visit, according to an official statement of Iraqi delegation included the accompanying delegation , Minister of Foreign Affairs ,Hoshyar Zebari, Deputy Minister of Defense , Saadoun al-Dulaimi , a number of MPs and advisers .

    With the start of Maliki 's visit to Washington the prominent members of the Senate adopted a tough stance against him in a letter sent to President Barack Obama.

    The New York Times revealed in a report briefed by “Shafaq News”, that “ a group of members of the U.S. Congress sent a warning message to President , Barack Obama on " Maliki’d mismanagement to Iraqis that led to the deterioration of the situation there and may drag the country into civil war”.

    Violence has increased in the capital and the central and southern provinces significantly since the beginning of this year and claimed the lives of many people.

    “Victims of the war in Iraq” project that undertakes updating a database of civilian deaths in violence in Iraq since the US - led invasion indicated that more than 7000 people were killed in violence across the country this year.

    It is noteworthy that the UN Assistance mission for Iraq , " UNAMI " has announced early this month that more than 3000 civilians and security men were casualties in Iraq, the outcome of violence September only .
