    Follow-up / Sky Press:

Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) rose on Sunday after the release of its owner Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who has been held for nearly two months on charges not yet proven.

Kingdom Holding jumped 10 percent, the daily maximum, in its largest trading volume since the first trading day after Prince Alwaleed was arrested in early November, Reuters reported.

The stock is still down 2.3% from its level before Prince Alwaleed's arrest. Since then, the benchmark index has increased by more than 8%.

Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC), the country's largest chemical producer, slipped on weak financial results for the fourth quarter of last year.

SABIC fell 2.8%, and because of its weight on the bourse, the Saudi benchmark rose only 0.2%, but the gainers lost more than the losers by 109 to 67.

The release of Prince Alwaleed and a number of Saudi businessmen at the weekend after more than two months in jail are being investigated as a positive factor for their companies and also for the market in general. The investigation, which triggered shock waves In the political and economic circles, is about to be completed.

SABIC fell after its quarterly net profit fell to 3.67 billion riyals ($ 979 million) from 4.51 billion riyals a year earlier.

SABIC attributed the decline in profits to the "decrease in quantities produced and sold as a result of regular scheduled maintenance of some factories, although in the same quarter of the previous year deferred tax assets were recognized."

Other Gulf stock markets recorded generally poor performance.

Saudi authorities detained dozens of princes, senior officials and businessmen when Saudi Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched a crackdown on corruption in early November.

Al-Walid bin Talal was released Saturday, according to sources told Reuters, hours after the agency published a video of the boy from inside the Hotel Ritz, speaking of his innocence, without revealing the nature of the settlement reached.
