Iraq occupied third place in the export of crude oil to the People's Republic of China, after Angola and Russia, which maintained the first position of oil exporters to Beijing.
According to Reuters, Angola and Iraq took second and third place this month, while Saudi Arabia, the second largest supplier of China in 2017 .
"Russia remained China's largest supplier of crude oil in January," data from Beijing in early 2018 showed.
Last month, data showed that Russia achieved its second year as China's top supplier in 2017, overtaking Saudi Arabia - OPEC's largest exporter - by 150,000 bpd.
Russia's strong exports to the world's largest buyer of crude oil as a second east Siberian and Pacific (ESPO) pipeline, as well as expansion of domestic communications in China, began commercial operation in January.
In an adjustment to the package, Angola ranked second with 4.68 million tons, or 1.1 million barrels per day of crude oil in January, down 5.4 percent from a year earlier.
China imported 4.45 million tons, or 1.05 million barrels per day, of crude oil from Iraq, up 28 percent from last year.
Saudi Arabia supplied 4.29 million tons, or 1.01 million barrels per day, to China in January. The rate fell 15 percent from the same period last year, compared to 1.11 million bpd in December.
However, Saudi Arabia's exports are expected to rise to record highs this year as Saudi Aramco boosts its supply to China's state-owned NOC, as well as the Hawagin refinery owned by Norwegian defense giant Norinco.
China's total imports of crude oil last month rose by 20 percent from the same month last year to a record high of 9.57 million bpd, up 9.17 million bpd.
Customs data also showed that China's oil imports from the United States rose to 2.01 million tons last month, or about 472.508 barrels per day. This compares with only 257,861 tons a year ago.
In 2017, the average US shipments, which benefited from OPEC-led supply cuts, averaged about 153,000 barrels per day.
