Saad al-Hadithi spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office Haider al-Abadi, there is no agreement between Baghdad and Erbil on the implementation of the system of government savings for salaries in the region, calling for its cancellation and meet the demands of the demonstrators.
Al-Hadithi said in a press statement that "the news that there is a deal between the federal governments and the Kurdistan region regarding the implementation of the system of saving on the salaries of the staff of the region is unfounded," adding that the federal government fulfilled its commitment to provide part of the allocations of salaries of employees of the region.
He added that "the provincial government is on its own to complete the amount of 371 billion and 540 million dinars to it, of the proceeds of oil obtained from the sale of oil produced in the fields of the region," pointing out that "the release of salaries of the staff of the region must be in full without reduction or cut, Or savings, or any action that makes those salaries less than the official spending in other provinces of Iraq. "
Al-Hadithi said that "the region has the financial cover for this matter, and the guide is to take a decision to reduce the savings rate to between [10-20%]." He pointed out that "the savings ratio had previously reached [50%] Itself, and means that the data indicate the possibility of canceling this measure in full in the near future. "
Al-Hadithi said that "the federal government has nothing to do with the issue of the provincial government's decision to implement the system of saving on the salaries of employees, and wishes to be withdrawn as soon as possible in response to the demands of citizens."
