[ltr]Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned Friday that "attempts to destroy and divide Syria and keep the presence of foreign forces in its territory forever" will be rejected.[/ltr]
[ltr]At a news conference in Moscow with his Austrian counterpart Karen Kniessel, the Russian minister said that "these attempts come within the framework of geopolitical engineering, which is contrary to international agreements on the settlement of the Syrian crisis."[/ltr]
[ltr]Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said earlier in the day that Moscow "does not know how the situation in Syria will develop in terms of preserving its territorial integrity," Interfax news agency quoted Sergei Ryabkov as saying.[/ltr]
