The Russian company Gazprom Novet has obtained exploration rights in the second oil field of Sergla II in the region of Garmina in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
"The well is currently producing 11,000 barrels of oil per day, with the possibility of increasing production to 15,000 barrels," Gazprom.com quoted the company as saying.
"The Saragala-2 well was under pressure and high temperature, but with the use of exceptional technical solutions in building wells, we were able to significantly reduce operating costs and deliver the project on time," said Chief Executive Sergey Petrov.
"Thanks to the operation of this new well, we have been able to confirm our geological forecast and obtain up-to-date information on the composition of the layers in the field of Sirajla. In general, the geology of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq is not subject to adequate research, so this new well is of great importance in terms of acquiring knowledge and experience in this area.
The first oil was obtained from the Garmina block in 2011, with shipments of commercial crude oil from the field starting in early 2015. In 2018 the total cumulative production in the field was seven million barrels of oil.
The first phase of the expansion of the collection and processing capacity is now completed to 25,000 bpd, with the expansion of the infrastructure to accommodate 35,000 bpd. It is planned to be drilled in the third quarter of 2018, completing the first phase of field development. Ending / 25 z
