The head of Sulaymaniyah International Airport, Taher Abdullah, said on Monday that the federal government had strongly warned Turkey that if flights to and from Sulaymaniyah airport were not opened, it would stop flights with it at all Iraqi airports.

Abdullah said in a statement to Radio "Voice of America" Kurdish language department, "The decision of the Turkish government includes not allowing all countries to pass flights to and from the airport to Sulaymaniyah."

He added that the Iraqi government and through the Ministry of Transport informed the Turkish Embassy to deal with international and bilateral agreements between the two countries and to end the siege on Sulaymaniyah International Airport.

Taher did not rule out the suspension of the Iraqi Ministry of Transport for flights with Turkey if it did not respond to Baghdad's request.
