An Iraqi political source reveals why the US embassy in Baghdad issued a warning

The leader of the Iraqi decision coalition, Athil al-Nujaifi, on Monday described the US embassy's statement, which warned its citizens to travel to Iraq, as "normal" for the presence of Iranian-threatening factions.
"There is no doubt that we all know there are many forces inside Iraq, they are armed and pro-Iranian, and some factions follow the orders of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei," Nujaifi told Asharq Al-Awsat.
He pointed out that "the statement of the American Embassy came to protect and preserve the lives of Americans from the danger of these factions, which follow the Iranian directives."
The US embassy in Iraq on Sunday urged US citizens to be vigilant because of what they described as mounting tensions in the country.
In a statement, the embassy advised Americans not to go to Iraq and called on those present to avoid going to areas where they were known to be present and to maintain contact with their surroundings.
US nationals in Iraq are involved in supporting security forces, humanitarian operations, archaeological excavations and a variety of economic projects.
