North Korea renews its readiness for dialogue with America
North Korea has expressed willingness to hold talks with the United States "at any time" after US President Donald Trump canceled a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
"We once again declare to the United States our readiness to sit face to face at any time and in any form to resolve the problem," Kim Kye Guan said in a statement published by the North Korean news agency.
The North Korean diplomat stressed his country's commitment to "make every effort to achieve peace and stability all over the world and on the Korean Peninsula has not changed, and we are ready to save time and opportunity for the United States."
He pointed out that the sudden announcement of the cancellation of the summit was "unexpected for us and we can not find it very regrettable," noting that Washington's unilateral decision to cancel the talks indicates "the seriousness of the hostile situation between the two countries and the need for a summit meeting between the presidents of the two countries "He said.
"Our leader was looking forward to meeting with President Trump, which would be a good start, and he was making efforts to prepare for the meeting," the official said.
Trump announced on Thursday the cancellation of the summit meeting with the North leader, scheduled for June 12 in Singapore, because of Kim's recent "hostile" remarks.
