warned the Committee on Agriculture and Water parliamentary and marshes, Thursday, lower production of wheat crop next season by 30%, while the government called for a review of its decision to reduce the purchase price of the crop from farmers in support of the agricultural sector.

The head of the committee MP Furat al-Tamimi said in an interview for Alsumaria News that "there is a clear decline in the marketing of wheat crop by farmers in general Iraq as a result of several circumstances, notably the government's reduction of the purchase price in addition to the delay of the rainy season," noting that "the price of tons of wheat The first was 800 thousand dinars and now the government buys by 560 thousand dinars. "
Al-Tamimi added that "the current situation of lower prices of wheat purchase means a decline in production of the crop next season by more than 30% because of the loss suffered by farmers because of these conditions," calling for the government to "review its decision and support the agricultural sector to develop and achieve self-sufficiency without the need for import from abroad "He said.

The Committee on Agriculture, Water and Marshlands called on Sunday (May 6, 2018) the Federal Government and the Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers to compensate wheat and barley farmers affected by the rains and floods that swept through Iraq in recent weeks.
