{Local: Al Furat News} The Deputy Chairman of the Agriculture Committee, Mansour Al-Baiji, warned of a water disaster if Turkey continues to reduce Iraq's water quota.
In a statement, Al-Furat News received a copy of it, Al-Baiji called on the Iraqi government to "go to the Turkish side and pressure it in order to increase Iraq's water share, and not to leave the matter as it is because the country is facing a major drought crisis that has not been witnessed before."
He added, "The Turkish side cut off Iraq's water share in a very large way, which led to an unnatural damage to our lands that has not been witnessed before, and this matter requires intervention by the executive authority in the country to pressure the Turkish side to increase Iraq's water share."
Al-Baiji said, "The government should not rely on the easiest solutions, which is to go to the water reservoirs in the lakes and dams in order to fill the large shortage of water as a result of reducing it from Turkey, because this matter will expose the country to a disaster if Turkey continues its policy towards our country by reducing our water share, which He calls for direct intervention by the government to address this crisis."
And the committee member added, "Disposing of the water storage without addressing the crisis with the Turkish side will complicate the situation because it is not the solution, but rather pushed the problem to a short period," adding: "Therefore, the Iraqi government must do its duty and use all diplomatic and other means in order to increase Iraq's share." water before we head to the unimaginable."
