After years of ban Saudi women were allowed to drive, but the next step could enable Saudi women to drive the aircraft.

According to the Reuters news agency, the Oxford Aviation Academy has received applications from hundreds of women hoping to start training.

The Academy is part of a $ 300 million project involving three phases, the first of which is the Aviation Academy, which currently accepts applications. The other two phases of the project include an aircraft maintenance school and an international flight simulation center at the airport.

The Academy's management explained that the students will spend three years of academic and practical training.

Last month saw a ban on women driving cars as part of a comprehensive reform plan led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Many welcomed the lifting of the ban, citing it as evidence of a new progressive direction towards which the kingdom is heading.
