(Baghdad: Al-Furat News) The commander of the border guards praised the team leader Hamid Abdullah al-Husseini, the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq in the elimination of gangs, calling for terrorism.
"Iraq has a border of 3600 kilometers with six countries and the longest is with Iran, so the border relations are important," Husseini said in a statement on the sidelines of the seventh border meeting between Iraq and Iran and the signing of a joint cooperation agreement between the two countries.
He noted "good and good relations with the border guards in the Islamic Republic, and said there is good security stability in the borders of the two countries," stressing "the need to strengthen border relations and continuity of bilateral meetings."
"The Iraqi Islamic Republic has always supported Iraq in the elimination of this terrorist organization," he said.
The head of the Iraqi border guards said "the signing of the joint border agreement," referring to "efforts to improve the level of border cooperation, pointing out Iran's good experiences in the field of drug control and his country's efforts to benefit from these experiences."
"Confronting the movements of the terrorist groups and the bad guys on the border is one of the other axes of the border agreement as well as seeking cooperation to curb the smuggling of arms, alcohol and the like," he said.
"Iraq is ready to welcome visitors on the occasion of the visit of the Imam Hussein," he said, pointing out "improving the infrastructure and preparing it for visitors."
Al-Husseini said that "the opening of the Khosravi border port will reduce congestion on the port of Mehran, which helps to entangle the influx of visitors," adding that "Iran is right to call for the opening of this crossing."
A border agreement between Iraq and Iran was signed on Tuesday in the presence of Brigadier General Qassem Rezaee, commander of the Iranian border guards and General Hamed Abdullah Ibrahim al-Husseini, commander of the Iraqi border guards at the Border Guard headquarters in Tehran.
