Source: India Refineries have not stopped importing Iranian oil
A government source said on Wednesday that the Indian government had not told oil refineries in the country to stop importing Iranian crude even as most Indian refiners cut imports before US sanctions against Tehran.
"We have good relations with Iran and the United States and our decision does not depend on energy," the government source said.
India has close diplomatic ties with Iran and is building the strategic port of Chabahar, which is expected to enter service by 2019.
At the same time, New Delhi is working closely with the United States to serve its strategic interests. The two countries have recently signed a military communications agreement.
