Former Iranian Revolutionary Guards Minister Mohsen Rafiq Douste said late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi had given Iran ballistic missiles free of charge to defend itself against Iraq, provided Saudi Arabia was hit by one of them.
During the Iran-Iraq war, Iranian President Hashemi Rafsanjani ordered him to go to Syria and meet Syrian President Hafez al-Assad for missiles to respond to Iraqi missiles, the minister said, but the latter did not provide them with the explanation that all his missiles were under the control of the Soviets. Assad then went to Dost to go to Libya, pledging to contact Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and recommend it.
Douste said that after the meeting with Assad went to Libya to meet with Muammar Gaddafi, who agreed immediately to send 10 Scud B missiles to Tehran, and stipulated that the bombing of Saudi Arabia one.
According to Douste, Iranian cities were under the Scud B missiles that the Soviet Union gave the Iraqis.
The Iranian arsenal was unable to respond because there were no suitable missiles in the army on the one hand, and the refusal of any country to sell Tehran such missiles.
Rafik Douste said each Scud B missile was worth $ 3 million. Libya was to send the missiles in three stages and at each stage 10 rockets, and did not ask for any.
He explained that after the receipt of these missiles and the response to Iraq, the Iranian side rejected the request of the Libyan expert who accompanied the missiles bombed Saudi Arabia, pointing out that Iran does not want to ignite the war with Saudi Arabia, to leave the Libyan expert after Iran and did not send Gaddafi after any missile to Tehran, Iran eventually resorted to North Korea for missiles.
