Iraq needs to diversify sources of income and focus on supporting the private sector in the country, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Finance Minister Fouad Hussein said Monday during his participation in the fifth German-Iraqi Economic Forum in Berlin. .
"Iraq needs to diversify the sources of income by bypassing the oil economy to the diversification economy, reorganizing the tax and customs system and regulating the banking sector to play a role in investment and strengthening the private sector," Hussein, who is accompanied by Industry Minister Saleh al-Jubouri, said in a speech during the forum's opening. .
"The focus should be on establishing and building government departments and moving from a paper-based government system to an e-government system, supporting and encouraging the private sector and applying decentralized systems," he said.
