Pyongyang calls on Washington to return a confiscated cargo ship
North Korea described the United States confiscating one of its vessels last week for violating international sanctions as "illegal robbery" and demanded the ship be returned.
The US judiciary announced last Thursday the confiscation of the North Korean cargo ship "Wise Onset", which is accused of violating international sanctions through the export and import of machines.
The ship was seized last year in Indonesia, where its captain is an appendage from the Indonesian authorities. In July, US authorities launched a confiscation mechanism.
The North Korean Foreign Ministry said the confiscation was in contradiction to the contents of a joint declaration signed by US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during their first summit in Singapore in June 2018. "It is an extension of the American calculations of Pyongyang, "He said.
"The United States committed an illegal robbery by confiscating our cargo ship, based on Security Council resolutions on sanctions," said a ministry spokesman, who said the United States should recognize the consequences of its guerrilla-related actions and return our ship without delay. He added that "the biggest mistake in the calculations" is that Washington believes that it can control the north by force.
