Iraqi source: meeting of Erbil on Monday failed to agree on replacing Al-Maliki

    Sunday, 17 February 2013 11: 40

    Sources
in the iraqiya list said Sunday for failure of a number of leaders of
political blocs agree on replacing Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki during
a meeting late Saturday in the Kurdish region.

    The source said
all Iraq [in] that "the meeting held yesterday evening in Erbil Iraqi
Kurdistan region President Massoud Barzani, leader of the Iraqi list,
Iyad Allawi, and the Iraqi President, Ahmad Chalabi, a representative of
Sadr [unnamed] did not reach agreement about replacing Maliki
mushrooming number and the subject is still under discussion and will be
updated on new meeting them today."

    "The main causes of
incompatibility of the parties meeting in Erbil due to disapproval of
the Islamic Supreme Council to provide his candidate to replace
Al-Maliki," adding that "the meeting yesterday was limited to the issue
of replacement Prime Minister and maintain their discussions today while
    out in the final agreement."

    Early political source had revealed
on Saturday that the President of the Kurdistan region Massoud Barzani
met in Irbil with the leader of the Iraqi list, Iyad Allawi, and the
Iraqi President, Ahmad Chalabi, a representative of Sadr [unnamed] to
discuss the option of replacing Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

    And
not from any of the parties to the meeting any clarification or details
about the meeting but issued a statement to the Kurdistan region
Barzani said he intended to launch an initiative to convene a meeting of
the political blocs in Erbil to resolve the crisis after three days of
talks with the US Ambassador, Barzani invited Barzani to launch such an
    initiative to resolve the crisis.

    Iraq has multiple political
crises and exchange of accusations between the blocks amid continued
protests in a number of provinces in recent weeks for several demands,
notably the adoption of a general amnesty and abolition of the
accountability and Justice Commission Act [formerly the
    debaathification] and others.

    Some political blocs, particularly
the Kurdistan Alliance and the Iraqi list and the Sadrists had tried
last year 2012 to withdraw confidence from the Prime Minister Nuri
al-Maliki and nominate a replacement National Alliance in meetings that
defined social Erbil and Najaf but failed to get sufficient votes to
pass the Bill in the House..
