    A man stabbed five people on Saturday at a shopping mall in a suburb of Baltimore, NBC News reported.
    The casualties of the afternoon attack at the Hunt Valley Town Center in Cookiesville, Maryland, were not serious, spokeswoman Jennifer Beach said.
    She said the man attacked five people, four of whom were outside a liquor store, with a knife.
    She continued: "He was armed with a knife, and forced our officers to unload their weapons."
    She later explained that it was not immediately clear whether more than one officer had opened fire on him, while the incident was still under investigation.
    She pointed out that one of the workers in the field of emergency medical services happened to be in the shopping center, he helped the victims before being taken to hospital.
    NBC News pointed to the suspect's involvement in an incident on Saturday morning with the Maryland Department of Transportation police.
    The policeman said the suspect "was threatening people, demanding money ... and then stabbing some."
    So far, the identity of the suspect has not been disclosed
