    Sources in the port of Umm Qasr, on Friday, that the security forces reopened the main port in the country after forcibly dispersed the demonstrators blocking its entrance.
    The sources told Reuters, "The staff managed to enter the port near Basra, which was closed by demonstrators since Monday, but operations have not yet resumed."
    Operations in Umm Qasr ceased from 29 October to 9 November with a brief resumption between 7 and 9 November.
    The port receives imports of cereals, vegetable oils and sugar shipments to feed the country, which is heavily dependent on imported foodstuffs.
