The demonstrators of Al-Tahrir Square in Baghdad launched appeals to the international community to intervene in order to protect them and respond to their demands.

The Tahrir Square demonstrators, according to a video clip, called on the United Nations to assume its responsibilities towards the peaceful demonstrators in Iraq.

The demonstrators roared around Tahrir Square on Friday evening, while chanting chants calling for the immediate intervention of the United Nations.

The demonstrators also called on the international organization to protect them from the oppression and absenteeism exercised against them by the security forces, especially with the arrival of news to the peaceful demonstration squares by threatening the continuation of their sit-in.

The demonstrators raised slogans condemning the Iraqi forces to continue using lethal force against the protesters, and chanted slogans calling for the trial of officials and officers who kill the demonstrators on a daily basis, stressing the need to expedite the formation of a new government able to control security and curb the power parties.

The Tahrir demonstrators revealed information that there is an agreement between the political blocs to end the demonstrations in Iraq.

The resignation of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Adel Abdul-Mahdi, did not persuade the demonstrators to end their continuous protests in Baghdad and the southern regions, stressing their determination to "remove all symbols of corruption."

Since the beginning of October 2019, Iraq has witnessed popular protests in the capital, Baghdad, and other governorates.

Since that time, about 500 people have been killed throughout Iraq, according to the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee, and more than 26,000 wounded, according to the Commission for Human Rights.
