    Mubasher: The Ministry of Communications in Iraq set, on Friday, the date for the launch of the international access gates project.
    Raad al-Mashhadani, a spokesman for the Ministry of Communications, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that the ministry has completed the technical and legal requirements of the International Internet Access Gates (IGW) project in Iraq.
    Al-Mashhadani pointed out that these portals are a major system aimed at filtering valid websites and Internet content and entering the country and blocking the invalid ones.
    Al-Mashhadani explained that the project was announced and referred to one of the sober international companies in this field, and it is now under implementation, and it is hoped that it will be put into actual operation during the third quarter of this year.
    The spokesperson for the Ministry of Communications added that the ministry is currently working through joint technical committees with the relevant authorities to develop accurate technical standards and specifications for the Internet exchange points (IXPs) project, which are places through which the various networks in the country are connected with the aim of exchanging Internet traffic through structures. A secure shared infrastructure exchange.
    Al-Mashhadani emphasized that these points are a major part of the Internet work environment and represent one of the means of developing the service and organizing it in an optimal manner, similar to the existing systems in the countries of the world.

    He pointed out that the Ministry of Communications, according to the directives of Minister Arkan Shihab Ahmed Al-Shaibani, is working through its executive role in implementing a safe policy for the reality of communications in Iraq.
    The spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Communications stressed that this issue includes great challenges, especially with the development and increase in demand on the Internet, various applications and social media sites, by organizing the process of processing and marketing Internet services in accordance with technical and security requirements, and to achieve streamlining of administrative and technical procedures for the work of the suppliers and providers of capacity and Internet services.
    It also comes among the challenges of implementing the safe policy for the reality of communications in Iraq to ensure the achievement of efficiency and quality factors in providing services to various government agencies and citizens and to create a large amount of appropriate conditions and requirements required to supervise the marketing of Internet services, manage and monitor its content in accordance with the requirements of work and the public interest, and not prejudice national security.
