    The information / Baghdad
A member of the Parliamentary Regions Committee, MP Mudhar Al-Karawi, confirmed, on Monday, the issue of canceling the provincial councils, which will be the first case that will be discussed by the Federal Supreme Court after its formation.
"The dissolution of the provincial councils by the House of Representatives does not mean its cancellation and the official end of its role, but it is clearly present in the Iraqi constitution, as it is concerned with electing governors," Al-Karawi said in a statement to "the information".
He added, "The abolition of these councils requires a constitutional amendment according to specific points and stages, and this is difficult to achieve at the present time," indicating that "the first files that will be presented to the Federal Court after its formation is the provincial councils file."
Al-Karawi explained that “the return of the same session is a difficult matter, but it will be waited until new elections are held for it through a law in terms of determining the number of members in each governorate,” stressing that “the councils have a monitoring character and their absence left a vacuum that all the parliamentary forces began to feel in current time".
The House of Representatives decided more than a year ago to dissolve the provincial councils, but the regional councils remained effective in the public scene. End / 25 F.
