{Local: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Electricity has introduced a number of obstetric units to supplement the system with additional cards, which will reflect positively on the processing of citizens, noting that the disparity in equipment between the governorates comes due to the deterioration of the distribution sector and the large number of abuses and slums.
A source in the Ministry of Electricity said that the current month will witness the introduction of a number of electrical stations that supply the system with additional cards, noting that these stations were scheduled to enter work before the month of June, but the delay in launching financial allocations prevented achieving this goal.
The source added that the production of electric power now reaches 18,000 megawatts and is expected to rise to 22,000 megawatts during this month, which helps in increasing the hours of supplying electrical power for citizens in Baghdad and the provinces, especially that the country's need for energy ranges from 25 to 27 thousand megawatts.
For his part, the spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Al-Abadi, confirmed that the supply of energy for citizens this summer will be better than it was in previous years, noting that there are governorates witnessing round-the-clock processing, such as Basra governorate because of its privacy, and other governorates where processing hours exceed 18 hours.
He pointed out that there is a disparity in equipment between the governorates due to the deterioration of the distribution sector and the large number of abuses and slums, indicating that the slums in Baghdad, according to the Parliamentary Services Committee, amounted to 1140 complexes.
And he indicated that the ministry succeeded in concluding contracts with companies and resulted in the establishment of stations such as Samawah with a capacity of 500 megawatts, Nasiriyah 500 megawatts, the Zubaydia station in Wasit with a capacity of 2540 megawatts, and a generating unit in Salah al-Din with a capacity of 630 megawatts, adding that these stations have concluded their contracts since 2018, and work is underway in the Kirkuk station In addition to the addition of 1500 megawatts in the Basmaya plant and work in the Rumaila plant and the Najibiyah and Hartha plants.
Al-Abadi explained that the ministry’s preparations for this summer started since last October and a large number of obstetric units that were not qualified from last year were rehabilitated due to the lack of allocations and they were completed, revealing the extension of transmission lines of about 6000 megawatts, which are the branches of Salah al-Din, al-Hamidiyah, al-Dur, al-Kisk and lines Nineveh Governorate, in addition to completing the work of 46 transformational stations, in addition to completing the rehabilitation of 2040 feeders to relieve bottlenecks in Baghdad and the governorates.
