{Politics: Al Furat News} A member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Mahmoud Khoshnaw, stressed the necessity of approving the Kurdistan Region’s budget law, which has been absent for a decade.
Khoshnaw told Al Furat News Agency: "According to the constitution and the law, the region must organize a budget law, and this law has been absent for more than 10 years. It must be ratified by the regional parliament to determine the share of each governorate" in the Kurdistan Region.
He explained that "the main purpose of the population census is statistics and development, and development plans are based on it, and this is what was approved for the population census."
He added, "Regarding the budget of Sulaymaniyah Governorate, it is supposed to be part of the share of the Kurdistan Region as a whole after the start of the regional parliament sessions and sending the draft budget law to parliament. It will be determined according to the results of the population census, which will be the basis for determining the proportions of the governorates from the budget, including the region."
